AbstractThis article offers information on activities relating to Gypsy youth developed under the auspices of the Council of Europe. With regard to youth, issue 16 of Interface noted the courses launched by the Council of Europe, the results of which are outlined here. The article also draws attention to the availability of grants for young people. These grants, covering several months within an organisation, are significant from a number of points of view: the experience provides vital complementary training equipping young stipendiaries with indispensable skills and knowledge which can subsequently be put to work in the service of their own communities in any number of ways, and entails the direct participation of members of the Gypsy community in developments concerning them. This initiative could be widely emulated, both by official bodies and by other NGOs, thus providing young people with an opportunity to hone their skills in the real life context of international institutions, public bodies, research institutes etc. (DIPF/orig.).
