Abstract | "Education for Life and Love" is an integral education programme taught in primary and secondary schools and vocational training colleges throughout Cameroon since 1986. Focusing on sex education and the fight against AIDS and sexually transmitted diseases, the programme is designed to influence pupils' outlook and behaviour while taking into account specific psychosocial, cultural, religious and family values. The three-part programme deals with aspects such as integral human education, access to healthcare services, and treatment facilities for the HIV positive and STD patients. The author examines the notion of integral human education and analyses available training and pedagogical strategies. (DIPF/orig.) |
