| Abstract | "Ethnicity a sociological perspective" (by Nikolay Skvorcov) sees ethnicity as a subject of anthropology with a recently growing interest of sociologists for the field of the ethnic relations as well. Stating that objectivist and subjectivist approaches to ethnicity are being worked out in the modern sociology, the author focuses on a study of the ethnicity in a neo-Marxist perspective and in the resources competition theory, on the one hand, exemplifying the 'objective' sociology. On the other hand, symbolic interaction theory is seen as an example of a 'subjective' sociology. These differing approaches are in the author's opinion representing variant forms and functions of ethnicity in a society. (DIPF/ orig.). |
