AbstractThe author tested her hypothesis "that students exposed to inclusion for a longer period of time would have different attitudes toward inclusion" by a questionnaire survey with 196 high school students from a suburban school in Ontario (an attitude scale was administered) . "Inclusion" was defined as "the educational process by which all students, regardless of disability, are educated together in an age- appropriate regular education program." The school surveyed has a "peer tutoring" course "offered for academic credit with the goal of fostering a high degree of interaction between regular and special education students." The data analysis of the study showed that a majority of the students did not want to be in the same class with a disabled student and that "simply exposing regular education students to inclusion does not change attitudes over time."
