Abstract	This paper is constituted by three topics: the transformation of society, new media and education. It outlines the transformation of society and its demands on todays socialization in order to ask how the new media could support the search of meaningful contextes. What possibilities do the new media open to develop new social identities? The chances and risks mark opportunities and tasks for the schools. Learning and use of new media, critical reflection and contrastation are the measures of media-related education programms. These programms will support children and adolescents to be open to the demands of media-related challenges and to use its constructive potential. The children will also learn how to handle the media-related risks. (DIPF/orig.)
