| Abstract | This publication brings together the most salient data, viewpoints and conclusion contained in the country reports that have been submitted in the framework of the general theme of the project "A secondary education for Europe". It places this information in an analytical context although it is not an exercise in comparative analysis. The chosen approach has been to juxtapose the data and conclusions concerning individual countries within the broad general themes identified for the final publication of the country reports.- The publication covers the themes and issues with which secondary education is confronted in different degrees of depth and detail. One of the principal conclusions is that secondary education is more central to the education system than ever before and that it has never been more needed than now. (DIPF/orig.). |
