Abstract | "In a knowledge-based society, educating the young - and everybody else - is a vital concern. What role does educational research have to play in this? How can it contribute to educational reform? What lessons can it learn from practice in adjacent research fields? Are there key concerns shared across countries? These and related questions are addressed here." The book contains: 1) studies about educational research (ER) (research policy and strategy) in four countries, 2) an article by B. McGaw on nature and future of ER, 3) an analysis by Ch. Whetton on educational assessment in England and Wales, 4) a paper by W. Harlen which describes the influence of ER on educational reform, 5) some short papers about the role and function of international organizations in ER and 6) an article by R. Seldon which considers the impact of ER. (DIPF/Bi.). |
