Abstract | The research team has dealt with the innovative model of entrance university exams. The model presupposes a wide application in the choice of the best students for university study. The introduction of general intellectual abilities testing, testing of creativity and testing the abilities of problem solving and logical thinking in the field of study represent an innovative factor. The research team has tried to create a model of entrance exams which would include the examination of abilities and mental prerequisites of the applicant in a lager degree than examination and testing of his-her extent of knowledge and abilities to remember facts. The presumption phase of the exams includes testing of general mental abilities, creative productive thinking and fluency in one world language. The special part of the exams includes testing of knowledge from biology, psychology and testing of logical mathematical thinking. The marks from secondary school are taken into account together with the results from the oral test. The merge of new and innovative procedures with classical procedures offers a plastic picture of positive and negative results of individual parts of the entrance exams and suggests starting points for the improvement of the selection mechanism of the applicants for university studies which could be compatible with the world trends.
