Abstract | IT-INSET (Initial Training - Inservice Education of Teachers) is a radical approach to teacher education which combines school-focused INSET for teachers with school-based initial training for students. Leicester University is one of an increasing number of training institutions who have made IT-INSET an integral part of their courses. It has come to form a major feature of the close professional partnership in initial and in-service education of teachers between Leicesterhire LEA and the School of Education at the University. This book is the account of Leicestershire's experience of IT-INSET, described through the words of participating teachers, students and tutors. It aims to give an insight into what it is like to be a member of an It-INSET team uand to describe the potential benefits to be gainied. It is also concerned with the practical considerations which need to be taken into account in terms of making IT-INSET work. (DIPF/orig.). |
