Abstract | Recent developments in the province of Ontario have enhanced the goals for Ontario's well-being strategy within education resulting in the inclusion of achieving excellence, insuring equity and enhancing public confidence as targets. To do this the Ontario Ministry of Education (OME) revisited: Foundations for a Healthy School and reformed five unified elements of a healthy school including Curriculum, Teaching, and Learning, School and Classroom Leadership, Student Engagement, Socia1 and Physical Environments, and Home, School, and Community Partnerships. The OME decided to update the Ontario Health and Physical Education (H&P.E.) curricula in a substantive way as it arrived on teacher desktops February 23, 2015 for both elementary (K-8) and secondary (9-12) level teachers and students. The article outlines the theoretical background of the curricula and describes the inclusion of equity in the elementary and secondary curricula. (geändert). (Autor). |
