Abstract | The present research investigates effects of campaigns against sexual assault on campus addressing students as potential bystanders. An experimental study explores the effect of gain and loss frames and level of emergency related danger on bystander intervention intentions. Our results indicate that a high level of emergency related danger increases intervention intentions. The effect is mediated by emergency awareness, perceived responsibility and cost-reward-considerations. Framing of the consequences for the victim or the bystander does not affect helping intentions.
