Abstract | The article considers the main aspects of development of speech abilities and habits required for successful professional activity of future specialists in the field of physical culture and sport. The objective of the study was to identify the necessary conditions for the formation of students' communicative competence within the study of the subject "Russian language and standard of speech". Communicative competence is considered as a set of knowledge, skills and abilities associated with the optimal use of language means in oral and written communication in a variety of speech situations. In the "Russian Language and Culture of Speech" education process in order to increase the level of speech culture at training sessions the authors used various forms of interactive learning; testing, implying the mandatory use of dictionaries and reference books; development of training film scripts. Rhetorical skills were developed using a variety of play forms: round-table discussion, dispute, brainstorming, business negotiations, debate; preparation of information, propaganda and entertainment public statements. Thus, the special purpose of teaching Russian in higher schools of physical culture is to form language, communicative and linguistic competences of future bachelors, which makes it possible to master skills to identify, analyze, compare, classify linguistic phenomena and facts, taking into account a variety of their interpretations; to give a historical commentary on the linguistic phenomena; distinguish between normal variants and speech disorders.
