| Abstract | Health is a public resource, though this line of thinking is more evident in well-developed countries, not so much financially, but more socially. To raise the level of this resource, some actions need to be taken, requiring careful and conscious planning, and to be adjusted to state policy emphasizing long-term goals which would not be changed with each successive change of cabinets. To make it most effective, action needs to be taken at the grass root level with children and youth during their schooling time. But if one wants to target the intervention in youth it is a reasonable move to involve local community institutions (municipality) to collaborate on providing extra-curricular programmes of activities. From numerous research studies it seems that the most dangerous predicaments of potential health problems are overweight and obesity in youth, which frequently are associated with relevant health problems in the future. Therefore in this chapter examples of the best strategies concerning development of health potential, with special attention paid to interventions concerning physical activity, have been described.
