Abstract | The article sums up the current state of research on education in ethnic German immigrant families ("Spät-/Aussiedler") and focusses on a perspective of intercultural comparison of the current situation as well as of study results, thus to allow comparison with other Immigrant groups. It shows that ethnic German immigrants dwell in educational ideas of both their country of origin and their host country. With regard to the education of children and juveniles however, they adapt their attitudes and behavior to the new social situation, as the migration processes require specific modulations. Families or parents favor an education leading towards integration and assimilation while as they aim to take into account traditional standards as well as the claims of the adolescents towards autonomy.
