Abstract | As Ohio's first career center, Auburn Career Center in Concord Township, Ohio, has been at the forefront of new and exciting educational initiatives. Auburn embraces emerging technologies and unique teaching tools to better educate its high school and adult education students. The school prides itself on its quality instructors, who come from a wide variety of educational and employment backgrounds to put their students on the road toward excellence in their future and academic career paths. In 2001, Auburn implemented its Strategic Plan, which was developed by the Auburn board, administration, faculty, staff, students and community. Within its Strategic Plan, Auburn created a new Mission and several goals for itself, its students, faculty and staff, and the community. This article examines this new Mission and is divided into the following sections: Strategic Plan; High Schools That Work; The Academy Concept; Embracing Technology; National Recognition; and Collective Responsibility.
