| Abstract | The majority of participants (84%) chose a faculty member as their identified mentor, with the rest choosing an athletic coach (11%) or a member of the professional staff/ administration (5%). Because of the large number of students identifying a faculty member, a principal components analysis was conducted using only the faculty mentor data. [...]the Community factor reflects the importance of the mentor facilitating and supporting the student's engagement in life outside of the classroom, serving as both a source of information and encouragement. |
