AbstractThe present study aimed to present suggestions to solve the problem of students' academic procrastination and to determine the effectiveness of these suggestions. A quantitative approach was adopted in the research, which was based on a survey model. The sample used in the study included a total of 691 freshman and senior students majoring in departments at the Faculty of Education of AhiEvran University. Data were collected using the data collection instrument termed "Suggestions to Prevent Procrastination Behavior", which comprised of thirty one items and five factors. The data were analyzed using arithmetic means, standard deviation, t-test, ANOVA and Turkey HSD test. It was seen at the end of the study that the students responded maximally to the suggestions on "fostering active participation and individuality" factor and minimally to the suggestions on "outer control practices" factor. The effectiveness levels of the suggested practices were higher in female students by gender, fourth year students by class level, and pre-school teacher education (PSTE) department students by department.
