Abstract | This article reports on reactions to the Association of American Publishers' new public-relations campaign, which has upset many university presses and research librarians, as well as open-access advocates. The effort, known as the "Partnership for Research Integrity in Science & Medicine," or Prism, is the latest tactic in a continuing public-relations war between the association and the open-access camp. It is framed as an undertaking aimed at "safeguard[ing] the scientific and medical peer-review process and educating the public about the risks of proposed government interference with the scholarly communication process," but many commentators contend that this is an effort to spin an anti-open access agenda, and several of them are urging a boycott.
