Abstract | Using an ecological conceptual framework, this article describes a health promotion pilot project designed for children, their families, and other community members. The program was based in a full-service community school that evolved from a university-community collaboration. Efforts to increase adults' access to health promotion information are highlighted. Specific strategies are discussed, and the "neighbor educator" model is described as a strategy to reach at-risk populations. Implications for family and consumer sciences professionals are suggested. The specific focus of this article is on efforts to increase access to health promotion information among parents and other adults in the community. A human ecological conceptual framework guided the study. (Contains 2 tables.) (Author). |
