Abstract | As the responsibilities of school counsellors have expanded from traditionally supporting students with academic and career planning, to include often complex mental health issues such as depression, anxiety and substance abuse, it becomes increasingly important to structure counselling intervention models that support the health and wellness of both students and counsellors. Using a Response to Intervention (RTI) model of counselling intervention provides an opportunity to meet the needs of students more effectively, while enabling counsellors to manage their caseloads more efficiently.
