Abstract | Plate Tectonics Cycle is one of the units of a K-6 unified science curriculum program. The unit consists of four organizing sub-themes: (1) volcanoes (covering formation, distribution, and major volcanic groups); (2) earthquakes (with investigations on wave movements, seismograms and sub-suface earth currents); (3) plate tectonics (providing maps and models of continental movement); and (4) hazards (identifying the damage associated with volcanoes and earthquakes and the techniques and scales for assessing them). Each sub-theme contains an introductory statement, student activities for lower primary grades (K-3) and upper primary grades (4-6) and a teacher's copy for each student worksheet. Student worksheets are ready for duplicating. (ML) |
