Abstract | This unit of instruction on energy conservation in field crop production was designed for use by agribusiness and natural resources teachers in Florida high schools and by agricultural extension agents as they work with adults and students. It is one of a series of 11 instructional units (see note) written to help teachers and agents to educate their students and clients about the problems of energy shortages and strategies for energy conservation and management. This unit is organized into five modules. Topics covered in the unit include management practices that will reduce the energy required for crop production; tillage and no-tillage methods of crop production; irrigation; and pest control. The unit contains student performance objectives, content information, teaching-learning activities, student handouts, transparency masters, and evaluation instruments. (KC) |
