Abstract | This is the second of a two volume report of a Day Care Inventory. The author presents an evaluation of the Inventory and make recommendations for changes, deletions and additions so that more satisfactory measures will be available for use in the study of the impact of day care on child development. The evaluations are based upon the findings from 282 day care children in Pennsylvania. The Day Care Inventory contains sixteen separate assessment components; these measures can be used to assess the development of preschool children in the following areas: (1) problem solving; (2) creativity; (3) sensory experience; (4) language; (5) gross motor skills; (6) visual discrimination; (7) social development and skills; (8) self esteem; (9) self concept; and (10) affective behavior. The format for each component evaluation includes a test description, discussion of the administration and scoring, a report of the findings, and a summary containing recommendations. (SDH) |
