Abstract | Purpose of the study was to evaluate the effectiveness of the Little Tennessee Valley Charrette, a 3-county experiment in community participation in identification of educational needs and planning new programs. An evaluation team interviewed charrette participants and group discussion leaders to obtain information on the program as the basis for determining its effectiveness. The evaluation team found that the principal concern unifying the 3 counties had to do with the establishment of an educational cooperative. A major conclusion of the study was that further activities be aimed at the establishment of such a cooperative. Appended to the final report of the evaluation team are (1) the full text of the evaluation team's recommendations and (2) an assimilated version of the charrette findings for Blount, London, and Monroe counties in terms of curriculum; vocational, continuing, and adult education; facilities; students; and organizational needs.
