Abstract | The general introduction to the three volumes says that the whole collection of articles "represents an inclusive cross-section of the most important research and thought on the key topics of the Japanese education systems, such as: the contribution of Japanese education and training to the economy and culture of Japan today; the lessons Japan has to offer to the rest of the world; the Japanese influence on the 'East Asian Approach' to education, in comparison with the educational systems of [other Asian countries]; Japan's promotion of the 'learning organisation' and 'knowledge workers' for the Information Age." The contributions to the volumes are not arranged around structured topics. The 23 articles in this first volume mainly give a historical background of the Japanese education system and general introductions to education policy. (DIPF/Bi./Orig.). |
