Abstract | The United Kingdom has introduced a wide range of education reforms designed to improve schools across the United Kingdom. This booklet, produced by the Department for Education and Employment in consultation with the Scottish Office, Welsh Office, Department of Education, Northern Ireland, and the British Council, summarises the Government's strategies for raising school performance and standards of pupil achievement. It describes the distinct approaches to school improvement in the UK and gives information on UK - based organisations engaged with the education service to enhance lifetime opportunities for young people. This booklet sets out to illustrate some of the areas of expertise available. The aim is not to transplant UK policies to other countries, but to make available UK expertise in tailoring solutions to local needs. (DIPF/orig.). |
