| Abstract | Since the early 1980s, Hungary has witnessed a gradual educational reform process, which has resulted in the emergence of a new paradigm in the field of curriculum development, coinciding with the political transition of the country. ... 1995 marks the beginning of a new era in Hungarian curriculum development: the phase of implementation is on. The chief priorities include the definition and elaboration of local curricula, which will lead to a gradual introduction of the National Core Curriculum (NCC) in everyday school education. ... The contents and the educational principles of the NCC are contained in three structural dimensions: a) Ten cultural domains; b) Seven cross-curricular educational objectives; c) Special target grades in the implementation of NCC.
