Abstract | Both students themselves and teachers are interested in school assessment. The article deals with a part of primary research, which are realised according to the project agreed with Ministry of National Education. The survey covered 125 pupils of the seventh grades of primary schools. Issues such as arbitrariness of assessment, value and function of the marking, objectiveness of marking and criteria of assessment were taken into account in the scope of presented research. According to the pupils' opinion the criteria laid down by the teachers do not meet the recommended criteria. The last information has concerned the image of the level of the school on the basis of marking. The results are so far temporary because of the limited number of the scope.
