Abstract	Ceremony can create and maintain wellbeing. Native ceremonies are powerful ways of tapping into the human condition and repairing relationships with one's families, community, fellow human beings, and within one self. Ceremonies bring about awareness of dependency, and can nurture respectful behavior for the water, the earth, and all plant and animal life upon which our lives depend. Many of these ceremonies evolved from the wisdom and hardships of our ancestors trying to survive in a harsh world. All tribal nations have ceremonies and traditions that are aimed at bringing people together in a good way, and many of those traditions are just as diverse as they are similar. Ceremonies such as pipe ceremonies, smudging, and invocations in the hosts' respective language, create an atmosphere of mindfulness and mutual respect. Other ceremonies, such as round dances, gift-giving and competitive games create community and goodwill among the people participating. (ERIC).
