Abstract | Chronic sorrow is described as a distinct grief reaction that occurs when loss is not final but continues to be present in the life of the griever. It is characteristic of a growing number of older individuals who are providing long-term care at home for a spouse or primary partner with progressive disability. The unique presentations of grief, depression, and anxiety associated with the chronic sorrow of long-term spousal caregivers require specialized counseling approaches. (As Provided). |
