AbstractA non-experimental design was used to investigate the relationship of the Test of Adult Basic Education (TABE) scores to employment status. Groups were comprised of individuals with disabilities who were either employed or not employed immediately following their taking of the TABE and being released from a testing and employment services center in southeast Alabama. Data for 71 individuals were analyzed to create a model to predict employment status of individuals with physical disabilities based on gender, race, age, and scores on the TABE. Logit and probit analyses were conducted and the Akaike Information Criterion was used to select the best model. Results revealed a significant interactive effect of gender and spelling and gender on the response, employment. Non-Caucasians were hired more often than Caucasians. (Contains 5 tables.)
