Abstract	This volume is part one of a three-part report of the Educational Research Service (ERS) "National Survey of Fringe Benefits in Public Schools." Data were derived from a 2-part questionnaire that was mailed to 1,918 United States public school systems. A total of 810 school systems responded, creating a 42 percent response rate. Information is presented and analyzed by enrollment grouping, per pupil expenditure level, and geographic region. This volume reports on the fringe benefits received by superintendents for the school year, 1994-95. It provides information on the following fringe-benefit provisions: leave provisions, group insurance programs, professional liability insurance, retirement plans, severance pay, tuition reimbursement provisions, payment of professional organization membership, payment of transportation and conference expenses, provisions for serving as an external consultant, physical examination benefits, contribution to a tax-sheltered annuity fund, length and terms of present employment, annuity policies provided by the school board, individual life insurance policies, and payment of membership dues in civic and social organizations. Fourteen figures and 32 tables are included. A list of additional benefits reported to ERS but not tabulated in the report is included. (LMI)
