Abstract | The purpose of this report is to provide a snapshot of the Iowa community colleges during fiscal year 1998-1999. It is not designed to provide trend analysis or year-by-year comparative information. All statistical and financial information used in this publication originates at Iowa's community colleges and is reported to the Iowa Department of Education, Bureau of Community Colleges. Highlights include: (1) credit enrollment (unduplicated headcount) of Iowa's 15 community colleges totaled 93,140, ranging from a low of 1,355 to a high of 18,250; (2) credit hours totaled 1,383,233, ranging from a low of 23,715 to a high of 239,582; (3) full-time status as a portion of total students ranged from a low of 43 percent to a high of 72 percent; (4) enrollments in non-credit classes totaled 616,825 (approximately 314,000 unduplicated headcount); (5) approximately 25 percent of expenditures were for vocational-technical programs, and 21 percent for arts and science programs; and (6) a total of 13,279 instructional, administrative, professional, secretarial and clerical, and service personnel were employed.
