AbstractThis document contains three papers from a symposium on learning organization practices. "The Beliefs of Managers as Facilitators of Learning in Learning Organizations" (Andrea D. Ellinger) reports selected findings from a qualitative study that examined the perceptions of managers regarding their beliefs, behaviors, triggers, and outcomes when they serve as facilitators of learning for their employees within learning organizations. "The Learning Organization as a Performance Improvement Strategy" (Sandra M. Kaiser, Elwood F. Holton, III) reviews the literature on learning organizations and innovation, identifies strategies for use by organizations seeking improved effectiveness and increased competitive advantage, and presents a set of research propositions hypothesizing the mechanism by which a learning organizations improves performance. "Examining Construct Validity of Dimensions of the Learning Organization Questionnaire" (Baiyin Yang, Karen E. Watkins, Victoria J. Marsick) reports a study that did the following: examined the construct validity of a newly developed instrument, the Dimensions of the Learning Organization Questionnaire, which measures the dimensions of learning organizations; obtained supporting validity evidence for the instrument from several sources, and obtained reliability estimates for the construct's seven proposed dimensions.
