Abstract | This document contains standards for the academic content of the Wisconsin K-12 curriculum in the area of marketing education. Developed by task forces of educators, parents, board of education members, and employers and employees, the standards cover content, performance, and proficiency areas. The first part of the guide is an introduction that defines the academic standards, explains how and why they were developed, and suggests ways teachers can use the standards, relate them to all students, and apply them across the curriculum. It is followed by an overview of marketing education and the standards for the following topics: entrepreneurship, free enterprise, global marketing, marketing functions, critical thinking, marketing applications, lifework development, marketing technology, and organizational leadership. Standards for each topic are organized into the skills and knowledge students should be able to demonstrate by the end of grades 4, 8, and 12. A glossary defines 13 terms. (KC) |
