Abstract | This book contains 10 papers exploring the effects of race, ethnicity, and class on women in the workplace. The following papers are included: "Series Editors' Introduction" (Ann Stromberg, Barbara A. Gutek, Laurie Larwood); "Introduction" (Elizabeth Higginbotham). The book is organized in four parts. Part I, "Historical and Economic Perspectives," includes: "An Economic Profile of Women in the United States" (Barbara J. Robles); "Speaking Up: The Politics of Black Women's Labor History" (Sharon Harley). Part II, "Manufacturing and Domestic Service," includes: "The Evolution of Alohawear: Colonialism, Race, Ethnicity, Class, and Gender in Hawaii's Garment Industry" (Joyce N.
