Abstract | This document contains statistical tables that show the number of students of each race/ethnicity in Maryland public schools, the total number of professional staff, and the number of teachers employed in each school. Information is provided by school district for each elementary, middle, and secondary school as well as for alternative schools. Race/ethnicity categories include American Indian/Alaskan Native, Asian/Pacific Islander, Black, White, and Hispanic. The overall percentage of minority students in each school is also provided. Student and professional totals are presented for each school type and for school districts. State totals indicate there are 818,583 students in Maryland public schools, including 2,569 American Indian/Alaskan Natives, 32,010 Asian/Pacific Islanders, 291,329 Blacks, 463,877 Whites, and 28,798 Hispanics. The overall percentage of students from minority groups is 43.3 percent and the number of professional staff is 53,275.3 with 46,599.3 teachers. (CR) |
