Abstract | This publication, part of a series entitled "Guide to Secondary Education in Europe," contains a brief description of secondary education in Denmark. The first section presents a general overview of the educational system, uppersecondary education, the transition from uppersecondary education to higher education, central government and uppersecondary education, the administration of uppersecondary schools, and private education. The second section describes the process of policy making and innovation, financing and budgeting, school and society, administration and organization of the education system, the school as an organization and as a community, the curriculum, evaluation and assessment, school staff, and international dimensions of the curriculum. The third section describes the efficiency and performance of secondary education as it traces the flow of a year group's path through different stages of the education system (1989/90). Section 4 discusses challenges, problems, and prospects of Danish education. Seven tables are included. (LMI) |
