Abstract | This report presents estimates of the total number of positions filled by scientists, engineers, and technicians employed in manufacturing industries in 1992. The estimates were developed from the Occupational Employment Statistics (OES) Survey, a Federal/State program under which national and state estimates are generated, of employment by industry for nonfarm wage and salary workers. Tables listed include: (1) Scientific, engineering, and technical (SET) personnel and SET managers in manufacturing industries; (2) Scientists in manufacturing industries; (3) Engineers in manufacturing industries; (4) Technicians in manufacturing industries; (5) Scientists, engineers, and technicians in manufacturing industries as a percentage of total industry employment, and the relative error; (6) R&D scientific, engineering, and technical (SET) personnel and SET managers in manufacturing industries; (7) R&D scientists in manufacturing industries; (8) R&D engineers in manufacturing industries; (9) R&D technicians in manufacturing industries; and (10) R&D scientists, engineers, and technicians in manufacturing industries as a percentage of total industry employment, and the relative error.
