Abstract | The instructor's guide and curriculum guide contained in this packet are designed to help teachers provide future automotive technicians with some of the electronic skills they will need to service cars of the future. The instructor's guide is designed to help teachers make certain that each student gets the most benefit possible out of both the student's manual and the learning activities at the training stations. It provides a list of essential elements and guidelines for adapting the material for students with special needs. It also contains answers to exercises and unit test questions, a work sheet to help in coordinating work experiences with the assignments, and unit tests for each unit. The seven units of the student's manual cover the following topics: introduction, safety and tools, basic electricity and electronics, engine electrical systems, body electrical systems, engine electronic control systems, and vehicle control systems. The curriculum guide contains the following: information about the course; an instructional key; lists of essential elements for all trade and industrial courses and essential elements for automotive technicians; an outline of basic skills applications; and assignment titles, objectives, and related essential elements for the units of the course.
