AbstractA project was undertaken to coordinate up-to-date staff professional development on a regional or state basis in the state of Wisconsin. An earlier study had recommended more specific information and hiring of a staff development coordinator. The "Coordination of Efforts in the Vocational, Technical, and Adult Education (VTAE) System for Specific Needs" survey was developed and administered to VTAE administrative and instructional staff members. Ten of 16 districts returned surveys. Project staff traveled to all but three districts to meet with staff development personnel. Articles and items were collected and published in the "ExChange" newsletter. Other activities included a business and marketing needs assessment, technical assistance, and a staff development workshop. Workshop participants identified common needs and offered suggestions for cooperation and coordination, including state and regional staff development consortia, communication technology, and linkages with technology and industry. Staff attended seminars at the Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development National Curriculum Study Institutes in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Recommendations were made regarding project continuation, advisory committee formation, newsletter continuation, expansion of the needs assessment, and support of statewide workshops.
