Abstract | This book, a revision of a previous publication, "Dance: Creative/Rhythmic Movement Education", continues and expands on the substantive work contained in the initial publication. Building on the essential elements of the body of knowledge articulated in the first book, this guide presents a conceptual framework for dance and gives procedures for creatively progressing in steps from a selected premise to a curriculum. Dance concepts, movement elements and skills, objectives, and learning activities are explained and developed for different levels of experience. Teaching methodologies are discussed and sample plans are included so teachers of dance will see how the framework can be implemented. Complementary sections on personnel, facilities, special needs, and resources are included to make this as comprehensive a guide for curriculum development as possible. (JD) |
