Abstract | This book describes an instructional model that identifies the major variables in the teaching-learning process to demonstrate how teachers can apply knowledge of educational psychology in the classroom. Following an intorductory chapter on the teacher or decision maker, the first section contains four chapters dealing with development and individual differences and discussing cognitive, personal, and social factors that influence learning, exceptional children, and teacher-student interaction and classroom dynamics. Preparing for effective teaching, the topic of the second section, includes a discussion on planning for instructional and classroom management, instructional organization, and lesson preparation. The third section discusses learning theories and instructional applications, and includes chapters on behavioral psychology, cognitive psychology, and humanistic psychology. Chapters on standardized and teacher-made measurement instruments and analyzing test scores and reporting student progress are included in the fourth section dealing with measurement and evaluation. Also included in each section are examples of classroom applications of many topics, key points, suggestions for further reading, and follow-up activities. (CB) |
