Abstract | This competency based curriculum guide for elementary and secondary physical education classes was developed and pilot-tested by the Louisiana State Department of Education. The goal of the physical education curriculum is to develop skills, knowledge, and attitudes in the psychomotor, cognitive, and affective domains. A grade placement chart indicates the scope and sequence of required activities at specific grade levels. The activities are divided into eight units: (1) movement; (2) physical fitness and motor fitness appraisal; (3) dance; (4) team sports; (5) individual and dual sports; (6) lifetime sports; (7) park and recreation games; and (8) outdoor activities. Each unit lists the skills, performance objectives, and grade level for the activities and suggests methods and techniques for teaching the required competencies. A bibliography is appended to each activity unit. (FG) |
