AbstractThe handbook provides general information for prospective applicants to the graduate study programs in higher education at the Center for the Study of Higher Education at the University of Virginia. It is intended as a supplement to the university catalogs. Information is given about three degree programs (Education Specialist, Ed.S.; Doctor of Education, ed.D.; and Doctor of Philosophy, Ph.D.) and two nondegree programs (postdoctoral studies and professional development; and Diploma of Advanced Graduate Study, DAGS). Brief program descriptions are given, followed by explanations of admission procedures, financial aid, registration and calendars, residency requirements, advisor and doctoral committee appointment, steps toward the doctorate, transfer of credit, comprehensive examination policy and procedures, dissertation research, internship policies and procedures, and dissertation titles. Financial aid application forms, internship guidesheets, program worksheets, and sample progress review and admission letters are appended. (MSE)
