| Abstract | The monograph presents a brief summary of the problems associated with airborne asbestos. It discusses the evidence regarding the pathogenicity of asbestos in man and animals, considers the evidence of human non-occupational exposure to asbestos, evaluates the evidence regarding health risks associated with various degrees and types of exposure, identified sources of environmental contamination by asbestos and indicates high-priority areas where research is needed to answer pressing questions concerning the effects of asbestos on health.
