Abstract | The objectives of this book are: (1) to present a theoretical framework for management by objectives in community colleges, (2) to present information about alternative methods for conducting needs assessment and implementing management by objectives, (3) to present a framework for integrating academic and fiscal planning through management by objectives program, (4) to describe the advantages and the disadvantages of using management by objectives in community colleges, and (5) to advocate management by objectives as a comprehensive technique for improving the quality of education that students receive. The book is organized as follows: Chapter 1. The Discipline of Management and the Community College Context; Chapter 2. Management by Objectives--A Theoretical Framework; Chapter 3. The Measurable Institutional Objectives Approach at Mt. San Jacinto College; Chapter 4. The Participative Management by Objectives Approach at the Coast Community College District; Chapter 5.
