Abstract | This report describes activities and presents working-group reports and resolutions from a seminar on environmental education conducted June 20 to July 11, 1970 at Foresta Institute, Carson City, Nevada. Attended by representatives from 14 countries, the seminar had the following aims: 1) to bring together specialists responsible for curricula design at primary and high school levels from both developing and developed countries; 2) to discuss curriculum innovation ideas and principles of potential use in environmental conservation education; 3) to allow delegates to participate in local field ecology studies with demonstration teams of students; and 4) to expose the specialists to a broad exchange of experiences and views. The complete agendas of the field studies, lectures, and discussions are represented, along with the reports of the four working groups (each on a separate topic within the area of environmental education); resolutions of the participants; their recommendations to UNESCO and IUCN; and plans for follow-up action. An appendix lists conference participants. (JLB) |
