Abstract | The guide utilizes systematic teaching of basic skills, the unit approach to apply skills and concepts from several subject areas to a common topic, and the incidental application of learned skills to current experiences. Emphasis is on the sequential development of concepts related to daily living. Material includes seven major topics: self, family, neighborhood, school, community, state, and nation and world. Each topic appears at four developmental levels with emphasis on subject matter appropriate for the particular developmental level. The outline lists content, resource material, and suggested teaching techniques and activities. (LE) |
