Abstract | The article puts two aspects of modern dictionary making - the trend towards the use of computer analysis and the rise of the specialist dictionary for the foreign learner - into the perspective of the great Johnsonian legacy in English lexicography. One consequence of these trends is the increasing attention being given to phraseological and grammatical information in monolingual learner dictionaries. Such innovations point the way towards a more integrated view of grammar and vocabulary in language teaching. (Verlag, adapt.). |
